Pacific Link Housing is proud to release its 2024 ESG Impact Report, outlining the organisation’s progress in environmental sustainability, social impact and governance. As a Tier One Community Housing Provider, this inaugural report highlights Pacific Link Housing’s commitment to responsible and sustainable housing solutions across the Central Coast, Lake Macquarie and Hunter regions.
Chairman Wal Edgell emphasised the significance of ESG considerations in community housing.
“Housing providers have a responsibility to do more than just deliver homes. We must ensure they are sustainable, well-managed and create long-term benefits for tenants and the broader community. Our latest ESG report reflects our commitment to these principles and identifies areas where we continue to improve.”
The report details Pacific Link Housing’s efforts in three key ESG areas:
- Environmental – The organisation is working to reduce its ecological footprint through practical strategies in construction and property maintenance. While ownership and fiscal constraints limit some initiatives, efforts continue to assess and improve environmental impact where possible.
- Social – With 40 years of experience in community housing, Pacific Link Housing has a strong track record in delivering social impact. Tenant support programs and placemaking initiatives help individuals build independence and strengthen communities, with a continued focus on improving tenant welfare and promoting stability.
- Governance – The organisation continues to strengthen governance practices, refining employment policies and operational processes. With a diverse and experienced Board, Pacific Link Housing upholds high standards of accountability and transparency, ensuring responsible and ethical management.
Group CEO Ian Lynch highlighted the role of Pacific Link Housing’s social enterprises, Key2 Realty and Renew Projects, in amplifying the organisation’s ESG impact.
“Pacific Link Housing is taking a proactive approach by directing a portion of profits from our social enterprises into targeted tenant programs and environmental initiatives. This model allows us to create lasting community benefits while also providing high-quality property management and maintenance services to property owners.”
The report also acknowledges ongoing challenges, particularly in improving environmental performance in managed properties, in a sub-market rental environment and improving ESG data collection. However, Pacific Link Housing remains committed to refining its strategies and working closely with partners, investors and government agencies to drive positive change.
By aligning with the Community Housing Industry Association ESG Reporting Standard, Pacific Link Housing is an early adopter in the first group of Community Housing Providers to set these measurable benchmarks for transparency and responsible housing practices.
